The Day of Your MonaLisa Touch Procedure

The Day of Your MonaLisa Touch Procedure

If you are a woman suffering from vaginal atrophy, you may have experienced discomfort and pain for some time. You may have had symptoms such as dryness, itchiness, and pain during intercourse, which may have led to feeling less confident about yourself and your body. It may also have caused issues with intimacy between you and your partner.

Thankfully, you received a diagnosis and will have the MonaLisa Touch procedure. It is common to be nervous  prior to your procedure, but knowing what to expect can help ease your mind. Here is what to expect the day of your procedure:

Preparation

There is very little preparation needed for the treatment. It’s important to shower prior to your procedure so the area is clean and free of lotions or creams. Some physicians recommend trimming pubic hair.

How the Procedure Works

The MonaLisa Touch procedure is nonsurgical and does not require anesthesia. A probe is inserted into the vagina and a laser will stimulate the production of new collagen and will hydrate the mucosa tissue. This technique is called laser vaginal rejuvenation.

It is a pain-free procedure; the only sensation you will feel is the slight vibrations from the vaginal probe.

Recovery After Treatment

You can return home after the outpatient procedure. Your doctor will recommend a few restrictions to help the healing process. Avoid physical activity and lifting weights for a few days. Avoid taking hot baths. Abstain from sexual activity for three to four days. You should be able to resume your normal routine after one to three days.

You may experience some mild side effects after your procedure, including slight localized discomfort and some redness and swelling. This will only last for a few days at the most and then should disappear.

Depending on the severity of the symptoms, your doctor may recommend one to three sessions. Results can last as long as a year depending on the seriousness of your symptoms, your age and lifestyle. Lifestyle factors include diet and whether you smoke. After a year, your doctor can determine if you need to repeat the sessions to continue treatment for the condition.

Life After Treatment

Women who have gone through the MonaLisa Touch procedure usually report positive outcomes. They have noticed reduced dryness and less burning sensations. They also have less pain during sexual intercourse. Urinary symptoms are also reduced. These positive results allowed women to experience improvement in their quality of life, self-confidence, and intimacy with their partners.

It is normal to feel nervous about your treatment – but there is no need to worry. The MonaLisa Touch procedure is safe, quick, and virtually painless. Dr. Hettiarachchi is the most experienced doctor in the Charlotte area for this procedure, and the staff of the Pelvic Center is fully equipped to take of you and answer any further questions you may have. The recovery process is minimal and any mild side effects will last just a few days before disappearing. Full recovery takes only a few days, after which you can return to your normal routine.

The MonaLisa Touch procedure has improved the lives of many women. We are sure the procedure will continue to help women live pain-free and happier lives.
